Our 50 state adventure to celebrate our 50th birthdays

Philadelphia, PA

We stayed in this crazy little campground in New Jersey called King Nummy, after a local Indian Chief, and hopped right over to Philly just for the day.

Beautiful blue Ben Franklin Bridge.

At certain times of day it blends in with the sky.

We hit the clearance sign with the Land Rover, so backing out onto the busy downtown street was super fun.

Picked a cheesesteak place and found out Kelsie & Josh had eaten at the same one a few months before. Yummy!

He picked provolone and I picked bleu cheese. Those things were delicious. But beef, cheese and bread, how could that ever be wrong? Of all the famous foods known all across the US, cheesesteak might just be the best idea.

Independence Hall – the beginning of it all. The Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted here. Those guys were geniuses. I read that someone posted recently that America is the only country founded on an idea and that idea is liberty.

“The room where it happened.”

I really really get into this type of thing. I love this country and it’s story a whole lot! I often ask Jerry why in the world we are so blessed to live here and get to be Americans. Also this guy was a great storyteller.

A beautiful gift in Chinatown from their sister city, Tianjin, China.

Bronze statue of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania, atop Philadelphia City Hall.
