This park is basically a beautiful drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains for 105 miles. There are numerous lookouts and stops along the way and hikes and waterfalls. You have to pick and choose because you can’t see it all unless you stay for weeks. The elevation throughout the park ranged from about 2000-3500 and went up and down all along the way. Also, if you’re keeping count that is 2 times we’ve used the America the Beautiful park pass!

The fog in the mountains is beautiful as it moves in.

We saw many deer along the sides of the road

We did a very steep 5 mile hike to Rose River Falls, Dark Hollow Falls, and then back out and down the road back to our car.

They were beautiful falls but very tiny as falls go. We followed along the little rivers for quite a bit of the hike. This is Rose River Falls.

Dark Hollow Falls is very popular and closer to the road so also much more crowded.
