This actually turned out to be a fun day in Connecticut. We ruled out lots of ideas and ended up with a steam train/steamboat tour of a still natural area of the state and it was beautiful and charming and we learned so much and got lots of video for our grandson, Augie, who loves trains and anything automotive. The older gentlemen who worked on the train did a great job of keeping everything as it was historically and that was a lot of fun.

We watched the train come into the station and then they detached the steam engine and transferred it to another track and took it down and reattached it to the other end of the train to take us the other way. The men were loading in the coal to keep the steam going. It was quite a sight and smell. I loved the smell of it! I wish this post was scratch n sniff, it reminded me of a cap gun smell from childhood.

The Becky Thatcher Riverboat which took us all around the Connecticut River.

Gillette Castle previously owned by William Gillette who played Sherlock Holmes on stage.

East Haddam Swing Bridge. Have I mentioned we love bridges? The right side of this bridge swings perpendicular to allow tall boats through. It is so cool!

How very neat. I bet you’re starting a list of places to bring people back to.
