What a spectacular little city to visit! Apparently the pilgrims landed here first, stayed around 35 days, then moved on to Plymouth because it had better soil for crops. Did anyone else know this?

Dunes dunes everywhere we looked

The Pilgrim Monument

Looking up into the Pilgrim Monument. Instead of a lot of stairs, it’s a series of ramps and steps to make it easier to get to the top.

It was mighty windy at the bottom

Most of the pics are taken from the top of this. The view was just lovely.

An old coast guard station at Race Point Beach

One of the original buildings used to house sea rescue victims.

We hiked through the woods to the sea

The observation deck is at the highest point on that hill – we hiked from there down to the beach

Jerry pointing out the observation deck which we had to hike back up to since our car was there!

More adorable grass and fences. “Postcard beaches” these are. “Swimming in beaches” these are not.

Race Point Beach was the only one with all rocks instead of shells. We don’t know why but the rocks were so beautiful and multicolored and unusual for a beach. All other beaches had shells.
