We’ve hatched a plan to visit 12 National Parks this summer. This was the only park out of 12 where I could even get reservations inside the park. The reason we could here is the extreme heat at this time of year. We don’t mind heat near as much as the next guy but it was some serious heat and then a park wide power outage! So our time was cut short but we still greatly enjoyed this park and are kicking ourselves for not getting there sooner in all the years we lived in Texas! Big Bend is beautiful and vast with desert and mountain and canyon regions spanning 1,252 sq miles.

Supposedly black bears are active in the park and spotted daily, but not by us!

Not exaggerating, it was really hot!

The temp inside the RV after the power was out. It took hours of wind and rain and darkness to bring that temp down to 80 by 7 am. It was a hot night.

The park was pitch black with the power outage. All we saw for hours was spectacular lightning in the distance.
