Our 50 state adventure to celebrate our 50th birthdays

Our RV Takeover of Wetumpka, Alabama

If you’ve seen Home Town Takeover on HGTV, then you know they renovated much of the little town of Wetumpka. Our good friend Michele works in the city so she graciously gave us a tour of all the updates.

Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson Park on the Coosa River is a precious little campground that we greatly enjoyed. Site #25 appeared to be the best one! It was so peaceful and we were steps from overlooking the river.

Michele & MJ visiting our RV.

The hexagon swing built by the show overlooking the Coosa River and the “Blooming on the Coosa” sign across the way on the side of Coaches Corner.

A great place to hang out, we just needed a fire.

Friends since 8th grade!

Cute sign that was installed but also a list of what we visited: Company Street, Jerry’s Barber Shop (now a bookstore) and The Big Fish House.

The Big Fish House. This house was used in the movie, The Big Fish. This was a 2003 movie directed by Tim Burton that we cannot recommend – come on it’s so dumb! Does anyone else think this? The house was updated by the show, both inside and out, and is a focal point in town. It’s also right behind Michele’s workplace – The Elmore County Pregnancy Center, which I can’t believe we didn’t get a picture of, on Company Street.

Street fair going on right next to the Coosa and Coaches Corner.

The Bibb Graves Bridge is a really gorgeous small town bridge that connects the two sides of the city.

One of many new murals.

The beautiful lights above Company Street.
