We had signed up many months ago to be extras in the filming but the dates for filming weren’t released until our entire trip was planned. So we did a little adjusting and left our RV in Albuquerque and did a quick 2 day trip back to Dallas.

We broke into groups of about 1000 and walked to the filming area while everyone else waited in the rest/performance/shade area with snacks, drinks and entertainment.
We cannot express how hot and how bright it actually was in the filming field. Possibly the hottest we’ve ever been. The staff continually handed out water and electrolytes and even misted us with water. We were able to raise the umbrellas, put on sunglasses, drink water, turn on fans etc between takes. Then everything got hidden under blankets and in bags for filming.

The people in front of us. Almost done with shooting and the sun was getting lower in the western sky. It was NOT, however, any cooler but actually warmer than earlier. It felt like about 103 degrees at this time, according to the weather.

We literally laid in the grass between each take at the end of the day. In all honesty, this part was extremely challenging and we were hoping it would be over soon.

So apparently, to be a Chosen extra you either freeze or bake? I’m so proud that you got a chance to be part of the show that is changing the world.
